The “Living God” is not merely a rhetorical phrase in prayer, but a description of the God who transcends time limitations. In other words, while Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob may seem like “deceased” biblical figures to us, from God’s eternal perspective, these biblical characters and all the saints throughout history who have read the Scripture exist together in eternity. This reflects God’s unchanging nature that transcends time, in whom there is no shadow of turning. Therefore, in every “present moment” we read the Bible, it is simultaneously the “present” of the Bible happening, the “scene of the event” of biblical revelation, the moment God continues to speak to us. When we read God’s Word with a “biblical presentism” perspective, each “Bible reading” becomes a journey into the “biblical scene”.
